Why ARGO deserved an OSCAR?

After days of pondering why Argo got the Oscar when there was a patriotic Lincoln on the bylines, I finally realized why. Drama, History, Patriotism, CIA, Hostage Situation, Hollywood, Sci-Fi, and intense suspense - Argo had it all.

The plot: On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, the Canadian and American governments ask the CIA to intervene. The CIA turns to their top “exfiltration” specialist, Tony Mendez, to come up with a plan to get the six Americans safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

Switching between real footage and movie depictions, Argo was one of Ben Affleck's best.

Tense, exciting, and often darkly comic, Argo recreates a historical event with vivid attention to detail and finely wrought characters. Argo proves again that the CIA can actually pull off any situation and come out with all glory.

Guzaarish

What is there in a magician's life when there is no more magic....Ethanasia. That is what this exemplary view was all about. "Merci - Killing" though does not speak much of a merciful act, has been handled quite well. Ethan Masceranhas, a magician, the Merlin, was suffering from paralysis from 12 years when he decided to file a petition in court requesting for Euthanasia, which was  rejected by all and the court.

Ethan, played by Hrithik Roshan who had to prove his mettle every time when people noticed nothing but his dancing skills and hot looks, proved his acting skills this time.

Movies in My Life

Movies; What do I say about them? Movies have always been an integral part of my life. From childhood I had been a huge fan of movies. I remember those days when the cable channels started and my dad did not get a connection for us; I was so upset. Had to be satisfied with Doordarshan or DD-1 as people say. There was the Sunday Bollywood show at 4 PM which used to make me do all my homework on time. Then came the Friday Night movies at 9 PM I guess and the first show of Deewar that I saw at night with my mom, as dad had to go Kolkata. We were waiting for him to return at night as I gaped through the amazing dialogues of "...Mere paas Ma hai". It was mesmerizing.

My dad has been a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan. Sometimes we used to sit and watch movies till late night, but only when it was a Amitabh movie. Other days I was rarely allowed. It was so funny that my homework and all studies used to be over on time everyday no matter when I started.

The Expendables

"The Expendables" had been a must watch for me since a long time. Just not because of the much hyped one frame scene of Stallone, Arnold and Bruce. The main reason was watching Sylvester Stallone on the big screen for the first time in my life. What else can be expected from a person who grew up watching Rambo and Rocky from his childhood and never skipped a Stallone movie on the television.

Stuck in Forum (A mall in Bangalore in case you are not aware) for 4 hours alone, without any intentions of shopping somehow pulled me to the PVR in there. Scrolling through the movies running, I was quite delighted to see tickets available for The Expendables. There was nothing much to think about although I was already five minutes late, as I hurried towards the counter and managed to enter as soon as possible.
