How rich people think differently...

Recently I came across this amazing article on Yahoo and was totally taken by it. It said there are 21 ways rich people think differently. The article was so interesting that it made a dent in my way of thinking and I realized if I want to become rich I need to think like the rich. Over the years the middle class has looked upon the rich with a jealous eye thinking those guys were born with a silver spoon. Never did they realize the struggle and change of though that they gone through.

But this article is not about what I think. Lets scroll down and see what the original article on Yahoo said...

World's richest woman Gina Rinehart is enduring a media firestorm over an article in which she takes the "jealous" middle class to task for "drinking, or smoking and socializing" rather than working to earn their own fortune. What if she has a point?

Steve Siebold, author of “How Rich People Think,” spent nearly three decades interviewing millionaires around the world to find out what separates them from everyone else. It had little to do with money itself, he told Business Insider. It was about their mentality. "[The middle class] tells people to be happy with what they have," he said. "And on the whole, most people are steeped in fear when it comes to money."

The Rich Happy Guy

1. Average people think MONEY is the root of all evil. Rich people believe POVERTY is the root of all evil.

"The average person has been brainwashed to believe rich people are lucky or dishonest," Siebold writes. That's why there's a certain shame that comes along with "getting rich" in lower-income communities. "The world class knows that while having money doesn't guarantee happiness, it does make your life easier and more enjoyable."

2. Average people think selfishness is a vice. Rich people think selfishness is a virtue.

"The rich go out there and try to make themselves happy. They don't try to pretend to save the world," Siebold told Business Insider.

The problem is that middle class people see that as a negative––and it's keeping them poor, he writes. "If you're not taking care of you, you're not in a position to help anyone else. You can't give what you don't have."

Onions had always made us cry...Now it is Petrol

Earlier this year when a new decade had just started, I was hoping to have a sumptuous meal on the first Sunday of 2011. I had got up early and took my wallet and galloped towards Food World (a retail chain in India). After gazing at some of the racks there I went forward to take the most important vegetable, "Onion" without which most Indian recipes are just incomplete. Though I had noticed that the onions displayed for sale were not very fresh but I really ignored it. I took a kilogram of onions and finally billed it paying quite a lump-some amount.

Later back at home while I was cross-checking the things I bought, too my utter bewilderment, I found out that I had paid 60 bucks for those stale onions. I was shocked. Then when I had a talk with my mom the same night, she told me the fact how onion prices were skyrocketing. I had missed the news for some time and on checking some I found out that, irregular rains and export of the vegetable are the reasons that onions in the wholesale market were being sold in the range of Rs 250 for five kilograms before reaching retailers, who were selling it at about Rs 80-100 per kilogram. Uff....that is whole lot of money for a commodity.

The story has repeated once again. Just a few days ago, a colleague of mine received a SMS saying "Petrol prices are going to increase by INR 7.50 by mid-night". We thought it to be a prank but out of curiosity went to the nearest gas station to check it out. That's where I got a shock of my life! More than 100 people were flocking the not so large gas station and the queue for petrol had reached out to the main road creating more congestion on the road. We somehow managed to get our hands on 300 rupees worth of petrol because that's the limit they were offering which showed a clear intention to make some profit.

This sudden rise in petrol by the UPA govt. has caused a stir in the nation which made the opposition mad leading to a country-wide BANDH (strike) today. Further not getting into the economics and analysis of things which you can get in ample from the leading newspapers and blogs.

I would just like to say that if the prices of commodities start increasing in this fashion then there is going to utter chaos in the country. The most affected will be people like us who dream to buy a car but could not afford it because of the high cost of running it everyday. When is India going to become a country where dreams come true. And what is the govt. going to do with all this extra money, they are just going to be stacked in the swiss accounts of our so called politicians who have messed up the country which at one point had dreamed of being worthwhile and add value to society and make its mark in the world.

Ahh!

I would like to quoted from DNA that,

"The petrol price hike has been like rubbing salt on the common man's wound"

3 things you are proud of about your personality

  1. I am a very good listener. If you've any problem that you'd like to share and discuss it with anyone, I'm your guy. This quality of mine has helped me get a lot of good friends, though there are certain times I tend to get a little too involved and start giving advice that some people do not like. I may not be too empathetic with you but I'd really listen to you and try my best to come up with a solution.

  2. Loyalty is another one of my traits that I'm really proud of. I am very loyal to my friends, family, work and my near and dear ones. But, yes, to get that type of loyalty from me you have to make sure that you don't back stab me ever or you'll be out of life for ever.

I am a Train

I am a Train. I graze the landscape from one end to the other. People from various religions, class, caste and creed board me every now and then. Some for short distances and some for a longer time. I am built of solid iron and steel. I am not meant to have feelings. I cannot cry or laugh or smile. I just gape at this amazing world. No one remembers me after their journey. They only remember their experience, but not me. No one stays forever. They all get down at their own stops leaving me alone to rest in the yards at night so that I can run again in the morning. My only companion are the tracks. Without them I am useless. I can't even fall in love with another train, because we can never be together. Tracks are parallel but they never meet. If I meet another train it can be only a collision. I have no life. I am just a commodity. I am a Train.

2010 - Looking Back

Lazing on the rotating chair in my office, I realized that a short and sweet 2010 is almost over. Though not many happenings in my life there has been a lot in the country and around (IPL, Kalmadi, 2G, Dabangg, Facebook, Wikileaks to name a few), which you will be updated on repeatedly if you turn on your television sets. The atmosphere here at work these few days is quite sober and silent with half the crowd on vacation. It's not that there is no work to do, in fact my marketing job is quite hectic here but c’mon, why are people so eager to develop applications at this time of year!

Looking back at this awesome year I realized that my life has taken quite a bit of turn in the last 365 days. I have not completed any of the resolutions I had planned for 2010 and again have my list ready for 2011. Yes, I am a big time planner. I like to plan everything very meticulously but the results are always quite different than apprehended.

My Camera Alive Again

A few months back I had been to Goa, to enjoy a wonderful holiday which could have been spoiled by the awesome rain that showed up everyday, but my spirits did not let me down. So back in Goa I was trying to click photographs all around with my just a year old Nikon S220 (not a very hi-fi camera, but was a gift from my dad on finishing MBA), imaging myself like those on NatGEO or other professional photographers. Then one point of time after clicking some 300+ photographs the camera suddenly went blank suddenly as the display stopped working. I was quite dis-heartened as I had to continue clicking with my mobile camera.

So when I returned back to Bangalore, I found out that my camera has 2 years of warranty. I was thrilled with the idea of getting it fixed for FREE!!! I kept on postponing to go to the Service Center and finally managed to go today. After finding my way to the service center when I showed them my camera they immediately told me "LCD is gone, need to replace, wait a minute....4700 bucks, warranty wont work" I had to agree...alas!

What Scared the Shit Out of Me?

Horror Movies, Mystery Thrillers, Psycho Killers, Child Ghosts, Doll Ghosts - these have nothing to do with giving me goosebumps or a tiny shiver. Being used to watch all sort of crap and gore has really made me insensitive to the horror effect of these which bring shivers down the spine. There was a time when people told me, that, first time when The Exorcist got released, there were Ambulances standing outside the theaters...not sure how true the fact is!!! Ya the movie was little creepy but really did not make any difference in getting me scared.

Now that is just mundane stuff. Coming to the point now. The other day, it was a Sunday afternoon and I just ordered for home delivery from one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, Chung's. I was watching some really gory stuff on NatGeo where three full grown cheetahs were pulling down a buffalo. These guys are capable of it all and with team work they can pull down almost every thing on earth.

What's your shirt saying?

Credit: funny.jokesprank.com
Today I was returning from my new house in an auto when I saw a not so good looking girl wearing a top which said "No Money No Honey". And I could not stop laughing. These t-shirts with these amazing funny quotes are quite a trend now. People prefer them to the more simple and sober t-shirts. There is nothing wrong in it. Funny images and hilarious sayings on them are quite a style statements. It portrays your personality and shows your creative side.

Movies in My Life

Movies; What do I say about them? Movies have always been an integral part of my life. From childhood I had been a huge fan of movies. I remember those days when the cable channels started and my dad did not get a connection for us; I was so upset. Had to be satisfied with Doordarshan or DD-1 as people say. There was the Sunday Bollywood show at 4 PM which used to make me do all my homework on time. Then came the Friday Night movies at 9 PM I guess and the first show of Deewar that I saw at night with my mom, as dad had to go Kolkata. We were waiting for him to return at night as I gaped through the amazing dialogues of "...Mere paas Ma hai". It was mesmerizing.

My dad has been a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan. Sometimes we used to sit and watch movies till late night, but only when it was a Amitabh movie. Other days I was rarely allowed. It was so funny that my homework and all studies used to be over on time everyday no matter when I started.

A Wet Evening in Bangalore

Yesterday, 24th September, 2010, the sky broke down on Bangalore and I was right there from the beginning till almost the end. What an evening when it felt like flood in Bangalore. The clock was ticking 6 PM and one of my colleagues came in and said "Lets leave early today". I also made my mind as I was getting a free lift from HSR Layout (where my office is) to the Silk Board Bridge where I catch my bus to Majestic (the central bus station in Bangalore). We left in 10-15 minutes and reached the Silk Board by 6:30-35. I was waiting for my Volvo (the AC buses that started in Bangalore some time ago) as there was immense traffic in front of me. It already started drizzling by that time which I ignored casually.

After waiting for round 15 minutes I got a bus which luckily was not very crowed and I managed to get a seat in sometime. The bus was moving very slowly as the traffic was growing.

Getting Your Priorities Straight

Getting your priorities straight is very important when you reach a dead end. There always comes a day in every individuals life when the bewilderedness of the mind gets you to ask a question, What's Next? This is the moment when you have lost track of what you are doing in life and where you are heading to and what your goals are. There can be multiple reasons behind this situation. Either you got lost and too much involved in that one thing you are doing in life or you have not planned your life properly. And you got stuck. Work or studies or anything for that matter can some sometimes get us too involved and we stop thinking anything beyond that. Like what after studying or what after job or why study and why work. There has to be a parallel reason behind everything we do. Not getting that parallel reason straightened gets us into this fix and we forget our priorities. So what are these priorities that I' talking about.

If you mess up, 'fess up.

Confessing about one's own mess ups is a dying art in the world today. It is also called taking responsibility for one's own actions. It usually means that you were wrong doing something. But, come on, who wants to ever admit they were wrong?

People have become so protective that they are ready to take all the credits but never the responsibility for their wrongs. This is because everyone thinks they are right and the entire world is wrong. But that's not true. Right and wrong is always a point of view. It depends on the cause for every action we do.

Who should be responsible? I feel everyone is responsible for whatever they do, whatever the circumstances are; because everyone has a choice. From parents to their children, from teachers to students, from managers to employees,  from the government to the people, everyone is responsible.

Why I love my hometown - Asansol

"Asansol Railway Station: Built 1885"
Although I was born in Calcutta (Kolkata now), I grew up in Asansol, a beautiful city called in Rarh in India. It is the second largest urban agglomeration in West Bengal and is an important mining and industrial center.

"Bypass from Asansol Eng College"
"Asansol a coal mining & industrial metropolis and one of the busiest commercial centers in India, is the second largest city in West Bengal after Kolkata. It is in Asansol subdivision located in Bardhaman District, in the western periphery of the state. It has a large work force, moderately high per capita income, educational establishments, good transport connections, several housing complexes, and land suitable for industry, institutions, transport and commerce.

Hope of Light

Whenever you enter a dark room you will not be able to see anything at first. But slowly you'll find out that you are able to see a lot of things. This proves that there was some light in that immense darkness. But if we close our eyes by being afraid of darkness we will never find the true light that is always hidden in every corner of the universe. So try to find light in darkness. Only then life will be brightened and never stop anyone else from finding light. That light may shine your life someday!
